Streams of Whisky (Shane MacGowan) The narrator in this song dreams that he meets the famous Irish poet, playwright, rebel and cultural icon Brendan Behan. He converses with the poet in order to gain some wisdom in regards to living in this world of hardship. In this dream, Behan tells of his life's exploits and the proclaims that life is short and it's not worth shedding a “wet thing called a tear.” One should instead head to the nearest watering hole and drink fifteen pints of beer!
