about

Kelly The Boy From Killane (trad. Irish) is a song about the Wexford rising of 1798. John Kelly was a merchant's son from Killane, Co. Wexford who, after fighting at New Ross and Wexford, was captured and hung by the English. The words are by P.J. McCall, the author of many other great ballads including 'Follow me up to Carlow,' and 'Boulavogue.'
